Baptisms

Baptism is based in the most ancient of traditions of the church. We know that Jesus Christ was baptised in the River Jordan and we continue in that heritage. In opting for baptism we recognise that our lives are part of a bigger story, and that this story matters. It is a story of love - a divine love, indiscriminate and eternal; a love that welcomes and holds us, whoever we are. Baptism is for all who choose to be a part of this eternal love story; it is for those who have been Christian all their lives, or have just started exploring the faith.

Here at St Mary’s we baptise at both our main Sunday services.  If you are interested in being baptised or have a little one you would like baptised, the first step is to come along to church and get a sense of which service you feel most at home in. Then, please connect with one of the clergy who will walk you through the process.  Please note, we baptise once a month in certain seasons of the churches year, so whilst we make every effort to accommodate your preferred date, we would ask you to be flexible.
